Initial Student

A potential student who is applying from their home country and plans to study in the United States on an F-1 student visa.
Please refer to the guide below on how to apply as an initial student at Southern Connecticut State University:
- Submit an online application by clicking on the link below and make a payment of $50 application fee:
- Undergraduate Students
- Graduate Students
Upon completion of the online application, documents that are required for submission to the ADMISSION OFFICE are listed below:
- Official high school transcript:
- High school transcript must be certified by Headmaster or Principle with official stamp or seal and evaluated with World Education Services (WES) for credentials evaluation.
- If any, college transcripts from non-U.S. institutions are to be evaluated with
World Education Services (WES) for credentials evaluation.
- One letter of recommendation from school counselor or professor.
- If English is not the first language, the university requires International Students to take an English proficiency test:
- Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL)
A minimum score of :

OR
- English as Second Language (ESL)
A certificate that shows attendance and completion of the English learning program. This may be waived instead of TOEFL. Please contact Admissions at 203-392-5644 for further information.
- Unfortunately, Southern Connecticut State University does not offer ESL program at this moment.
- ESL students have to be at level-112 in order to enroll.
- Submit these documents to the International Student Services:
-Completed International Student Profile Form
- Original and current financial support documentation
