B.S. Chemistry Four-Year Graduation Course Maps
The following course maps are just examples of potential sequences designed to complete the BS in Chemistry with ACS certification with either (a) the completion of a senior thesis to meet the requirements for upper level electives in chemistry or (b) a concentration in biochemistry. The department may be moving to a rotation of upper level courses (CHE 3xx-4xx) and therefore you must consult with your assigned academic advisor to prepare a specific course map. The course map assumes placement in MAT 150 and ENG 112 and does not include instances such that the student requires remediation in MAT, ENG or other areas. In these cases, it is anticipated that the student will complete prerequisite courses that will count toward the free elective course load and that enrollment in summer courses may be necessary to complete the requirements within a 4-year time frame.
The courses completed to satisfy the Tier I and Tier II LEP requirements are limited in some cases by the department. Please check with your academic advisor to obtain a list of the proper courses to satisfy these requirements. The Tier III requirement for all chemistry majors is satisfied by three one-credit courses (CHE 301, CHE 445, and CHE 496).
MAT 122 (Pre-calculus) is waived with placement into MAT 150.
A minimum of 120 credits is required.
