Research and Creative Activity Reassigned Time (RCART)
|
Welcome to the site for the School of Arts and Sciences' Research and Creative Activity Reassigned Time (RCART) Program. This site offers access to RFPs, guidelines, timetables and forms needed to apply for, report on and conclude an RCART award. A Word from Dean DonnaJean Fredeen: Research and Creative Activity Reassigned Time (RCART) Awards are an important part of fulfilling the school's mission to support our undergraduate and graduate programs as well as our commitment to liberal education with a teaching faculty deeply absorbed in scholarly and creative activity. These awards are open to all tenure-track and tenured full-time faculty at all ranks. I want to encourage all faculty members to consider submitting proposals. All of us understand the relationship that exists between our teaching and research. As Dr. Christine Petto, Professor of History and recent Faculty Scholar Award winner noted, we must practice and model the very research methods we teach to our students. These awards support current faculty in your efforts to sustain your research/creative activity agenda, and provide an opportunity for new faculty to establish or continue a research/creative activity agenda. This program also supports all faculty as you work to provide opportunities for our students to participate in the discovery of new knowledge, to create and perform artistically, and to discover the interconnectedness of all branches of learning in the arts and sciences. I look forward to receiving the recommendations of the RCART Review committee. I will notify all faculty who apply of my decision as per the timeline noted in the RCART process. Best Wishes, DonnaJean DonnaJean A. Fredeen, Ph.D. |
