the marketing concentration
The marketing concentration prepares students for entry-level, middle, and senior
management positions in marketing as well as preparation for graduate study. It includes
a strong basic understanding of business, concentrated knowledge of marketing theory
and its technological applications, and a degree of specialized expertise in one or
more specific functional marketing areas. Some of the topics studied include advertising,
product development, market identification, consumer research, retailing, sales, industrial
marketing, marketing management, and marketing strategy.As part of the Communication
portion of the University Requirements, all marketing majors must take COM 205 - Fundamentals
of Professional Presentations (3 credits).
In addition to the University Requirements and the Common Business Core courses in
business administration, students specializing in marketing must also take the following:
Marketing Courses: 18 credits
MKT 321 - Consumer Behavior
MKT 425 - Marketing Research
MKT 427 - Marketing Management
Plus 9 credits (3 courses) selected with the advice of the
faculty.
