Dr. Robert Forbus
Associate Professor of Marketing
Building upon two decades of experience in marketing communications and public relations,
Robert Forbus embarked on a second career in 2004 as an academic while simultaneously
operating PROVATO Consulting, LLC, in Montgomery, Alabama. Relocating to New England
in 2006, Dr. Forbus began studies at the University Connecticut, and earned both a
master's and a Ph.D in 2010. A member of the American Marketing Association, he serves
as assistant professor of marketing at Southern Connecticut State University. Dr.
Forbus' research focuses on advertising, health marketing, and brands. He is especially
interested in the impact of marketing upon marginalized and stigmatized consumers. Furthermore,
he continues to perform consulting work in strategic planning and marketing communications.
In the 1990s, Dr. Forbus' articles on business planning, marketing, banking and finance appeared in multiple issues of Independent Banker and Remodeling magazines. His work on international trade matters appeared in the newsletters and on the Web site of the National Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders Association of America. He has been quoted as a spokesman of America's independent bankers in publications across the U.S. as well as on National Public Radio.
