Peter Madonia, Ed.D., Associate Professor
Dr. Madonia is a tenured faculty member serving on the SCSU faculty for eight years.
Prior to coming to Southern, Dr. Madonia was a professional public school educator in the State of Connecticut for thirty years; having served in three school districts at all levels, PreK - 12. Dr. Madonia was a high school and middle school teacher, the Department Chair, School Prinicpal, Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent.
Prior to joining the faculty at Southern, he spent nine years of his public school career as School Superinntendent for hte Woodbridge Public Schools, Woodbridge, CT.
Dr. Madonia's teaching interests span the field of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and include teaching assignments in the 6th Year Program, Doctoral Studies, and Superintendent Preparation Program. Among the courses he teaches, he lists Organizational Development, School Finance, Basic Leadership Theory, and Advanced Applications of Leadership and Organizational Development. His research interests include: Preparing School Leaders to Serve in Challenging Times, Shared Governance at the Academy, Leadership as Department Chair, and Developing Ed.D. Model Programs. Dr. Madonia is an eight-year member of the Southern Faculty Senate, Chair of the Student Policy Committee and member of the Faculty Senate Executive Board. He is also a five-year faculty elected representative to the University Budget & Planning Committee and he serves on the Board of Governors, Griffin Hospital Health Services.
