Cooperating Teachers

Cooperating Teachers are a critical mentor in the learning experience of SCSU student teacher candidates as they prepare for entry into the profession. We hope that you will find the following resources helpful in supervising our students.

Cooperating Teacher Dialogue & Reception 
Please consider joining us for the Spring 2014 Cooperating Teacher Recognition & Dialogue on Thursday, May 1, 2014 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM in the Adanti Student Center.  This is an important opportunity for us  to show our appreciation for cooperating teachers and hear about your experience with our students. We hope that you will join us along with your academic faculty, student teacher candidates, and university  supervisors. 

STUDENT TEACHING HANDBOOK - Check out the section specifically written for cooperating teachers. We have also included a number of helpful resources including the current observation evaluation completed by university supervisors and the final evaluation completed by cooperating teachers.

IMPORTANT STUDENT TEACHING DATES - Each academic department establishes the dates for their student teacher candidate's session. 

STIPEND REQUEST QUICK GUIDE - Need help completing the stipend request form in TK20. The quick guide will answer most comonly asked questions. 

COOPERATING TEACHER W9 - New cooperating teachers must complete a W9 to receive their stipend. SCSU only needs the first page and we will complete the Employer Identification Number.

Cooperating Teacher Dialogue & Reception

 TK20 - Is our online assessment tool for teacher education candidates. Your student teacher candidate has likely been using Tk20 for several semesters prior to student teaching. Cooperating teachers are asked to complete the Final Student Teaching Evaluation AND the Cooperating Teacher Stipend Request in Tk20. About two weeks after your student teacher candidate starts their placement you will receive login information to establish an account. There is no cost for cooperating teachers to access Tk20 to complete student teacher candidate materials.

COOPERATING TEACHER STIPENDS - We offer a small stipend to our cooperating teachers upon completion of the placement. Once access to Tk20 is available we as that cooperating teachers complete the stipend request. The request will take about 2 minutes to complete and is vital to assure that we send payment to the correct cooperating teacher/address for each supervision session. Please note the following information regarding cooperating teacher stipend submissions: 

Stipend Due Date:Please submit your stipend as soon as possible. Once final student teaching evaluations have been submitted we begin processing payment requests. Most payments will be processed as follows:                            
          Submitted by March 15 - processed for payment in by April 1
          Submitted by May 15 - processed for payment by June 1
          Submitted by October 30 - processed for payment by November 15 
          Submitted by December 30 - processed for payment by January 15

 Receiving Your Stipend: The following is required for payment. 
        1. Submitted Final Student Teacher Evaluation
        2. Submission of the Stipend Request - Tk20 Quick Guide for Stipend Request Submission
        3. W9 Form on File- please send the w9 (page 1 only) directly to SCSU Accounts Payable at:

                                         If you have been a cooperating teacher for SCSU within the past few years you do not                                                                        need to submit a new W9 form unless your name has changed.
