CAT Lab

The CAT Lab, located in Engleman Hall B017A:

- evaluates students' computer access needs,

- trains them to use adaptive technology,

- and provides a supportive, accessible working environment for students with disabilities.

Devices such as smartpens, iPads, Kurzweil USB drives and magnifiers are available for loan to SCSU students registered with us.

To reflect the needs of our students and the rising impact that technology has on academic life, the center has moved and continues to move away from a centralized model (where all services were provided in one location) to a distributive model by providing assistive technology access throughout the campus.  With the aid of Academic Computing, the goal of the university is to make one in every 20 computer stations on campus accessible.  An accessible station includes a large screen monitor, accessible desks and assistive technology where members of the community with disabilities have priority of use.
