Due to the impending snowstorm, the university will close at 11 a.m. Monday (Jan.
26) for students, faculty and non-essential staff. All classes scheduled to start
after 11 a.m. Monday are canceled. While the residence halls will remain open with
limited services, residential students are strongly advised to return home Monday
if they are safely able to do so. With blizzard-like conditions expected as the storm
intensifies late Monday through Tuesday, movement around campus to Connecticut Hall
and other locations will be difficult. The university will remain closed Tuesday during
the height of the storm. Wednesday's status will be announced once the extent of
the cleanup after the storm is known.
The Fresh Start Program offers an option for formerly matriculated students. The
purpose of the Fresh Start Program is to retain and offer support to students who
experience a poor start and dropped from matriculated status or withdrew from the
university. This program allows them to be readmitted to the university and disregard
their previous record in calculating their Quality Point Ratio (QPR).
The option is available only once, only to students who are not education majors,
and only to students who have completed the following conditions:
Formerly matriculated students:
had a QPR below 2.0
have had non-matriculated status for at least one year
have not yet completed 60 credits
present evidence of changed work habits by completing 9-12 credits with a 2.75 QPR
