ACADEMIC ADVISEMENT: WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?

Academic Advisement Center Aims to:
- Familarize you with college policies and degree requirements.
- Discuss your academic performance, including any problems you may be experiencing academically, and direct you to appropriate resources on campus to meet your needs.
- Provide an information exchange between adviser and advisee to help foster student success. Your adviser plays an important role in helping you develop your educational goals and a plan to achieve them.
Your Responsibilities as a Student/Advisee:
- Initiate contact with your adviser and seek help on a regular basis.
- Read the pages in the SCSU catalog pertaining to your major.
- Become familiar with academic policies, procedures, and requirements by reading the university catalog and Student Handbook.
Recognize that you are responsible for continuous evaluation of your progress toward the objective set by the university. Also, you are ultimately responsible for all of your academic choices.
Know the graduation requirements for your major. Realize that your academic performance will follow you throughout your career.
