Letitia Ann Nastri, ’51, M.S. ’62, 6th Yr. ’79, and husband, Carl Nastri, M.S. ’69, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 26, 2003. Letitia Ann taught in the New Haven Public School System for 38 years. Carl was the parks director for New Haven, Conn. The couple resides in Branford, Conn. George Swirsky, ’52, and wife, Zelda Swirsky, ’53, recognized their 50th wedding anniversary, which was on Dec. 14, 2002, with a late celebration. The couple gathered with their three daughters, sons-in-law, and seven grandchildren to celebrate the event at the Atlantis Resort in Nassau in April 2003. Over the past year, the couple has enjoyed traveling to a variety of places, including Newport, Vermont, Las Vegas, and San Juan. The couple notes that their favorite trip is the short drive to see their grandchildren in Orange, Conn. George retired in 1998 and Zelda works part-time. Joan Holley, ’56, works with Kuhn Employment Opportunities Inc. in Meriden, Conn. She has worked on programs for people with disabilities for 18 years. She also serves as chairman on the organization’s board of directors. Marianne Robushi, ’59, retired on July 1, 2004 after 45 years of teaching in Stamford, Conn. Carmine Vaccaro, ’59, is very involved as a volunteer
in Stamford, working with numerous organizations, including the Knights
of Columbus, the American Legion, Stamford’s Patriotic and Special
Events Committee, the North Stamford Exchange Club, Smith House, ARI,
which helps mentally handicapped people, Catholic Family Services, Holy
Spirit Church, and the United Way. He is the secretary for the Stamford
Old Timers’ Athletic Association and is the commissioner for a youth
basketball league Upstart Division and serves as the official time-keeper
for all home games at Darien High School in Conn. |

Michael Cooper, ’64, has advised over 2,500 Connecticut public school teachers on their retirement over the past nine years through his business, Teacher Retirement Counseling Services. Susan Dzurenka, ’65, retired after 35 years of teaching special education. Trudy Dujardin, ’67, has relocated her business, Dujardin Design Associates, Inc., from Greenwich to Westport, Conn. The company’s Nantucket, Mass., office also will remain open. The 22-year-old company focuses on “green” design. Dujardin is on the National Sustainable Design Advisory Council of the American Society of Interior Designers and is a member of the board of directors of both the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum in Norwalk, Conn., and the Joslyn Castle Institute for Sustainable Communities in Omaha, Neb. She is also a member of the Design Future’s Council and is co-sponsoring the 2004 Green Summit. Constance Aiello, ’68, M.S. ’75, retired after 35 years at Garfield School in Bridgeport, Conn. Alfred Mueller, M.L.S. ’68, retired in 2002 from the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Yale University to pursue interests in art, music, and athletics, and to enjoy family life and friendships. Joseph McManus, ’69, was named 2003 Healthcare Executive of the Year by The American College of Healthcare Executives in Massachusetts. Since 1988, he has been the president and chief executive officer of Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence, Mass. Ellen Miffitt, ’69, won the Best 2-D Award in
the “Faces of Women” exhibit presented by the Las Vegas Arts
Council in Las Vegas, N.M. She won for her piece, Forever. |

Marlene McGann, ’72, has been named to the board of directors of the Rushford Center. She is the executive director of the Meriden and Wallingford Substance Abuse Council. Her children are Emily, 24, Brendan, 22, and Bryan, 19. Leon Mirsky, ’73, works for the New York State Office for Technology in Albany, N.Y., as a supervisory computer technician. He plans to retire in January 2005. Barbara Rascati, ’73, M.S. ’82, is a part-time resource room tutor at Hamden Middle School. She is also the secretary of the Connecticut Patients’ Rights Group, on the nominating committee for Branford Congressional Church, and on Branford’s Litter Committee. Rascati also volunteers at Hospice and for the annual fundraiser to benefit the Branford Soup Cellar. Her daughter is Sara Julianelle, ’02. Dawn Wallant, ’74, is the executive director of Common Ground, the New York State mediation center for Greene and Columbia counties. She is also active with state and local mediation boards in New York. Deborah Hellings, ’75, and her husband have been married for 13 years and are the proud parents of three children ranging in ages from 7 to 13. Alice Jackson, ’75, has taught in the Hartford Public School System for 28 years. She is currently pursuing her 6th Year degree in educational leadership at the University of Hartford. Debra Moriarty, ’76, was appointed vice president for student affairs at Towson University in Towson, Md. on May 10, 2004. She previously was associate vice president for student affairs at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Ida McGhee, ’78, retired after 28 years with the
Hartford Public Library. McGhee was manager of the library on wheels department. |

Mary Ann Franco, ’80, is a psychiatric emergency service clinician at Riverside Community Care in Milford, Mass., and at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Worcester, Mass. She is also an adjunct faculty member at Springfield College’s School of Social Work. She and husband, Paul, have six children: Maria, 19, Teresa, 18, Diana, 16, William, 11, Peter, 7, and Anthony, 1. Theresa Crowningshield, ’81, was awarded the New York State Art Teacher of the Year Award for the Adirondack region. The award is presented for professional contributions in the field of art education. Crowningshield has been teaching art at Elizabethtown-Lewis for 16 years. Antoinette Incampo, ’81, was the recipient of the Hamden Notables Award for 2004. A retired Hamden school nurse, she is active in the Hamden Women’s Club, the General Federation of Women’s Clubs Connecticut Chapter, and the Blessed Sacrament Church. Ellen Kennedy, M.S. ’82, is an instructional assistant, reading instructor, and phonics intervention teacher at North Elementary School in Londonderry, N.H., where she and her two daughters live. Her daughters, Susan, 20, and Margaret, 15, are both honor students. Tanja Moriarty, ’87, was elected selectwoman of Haddam on Nov. 4, 2003. She is serving a two-year-term as second-in-command of the town of Haddam Board of Selectmen. She also was responsible for helping to get a $500,000 federal drug-free community grant for Youth and Family Services of Haddam-Killingworth in October 2003. She and her husband, Sean, have been married for 16 years and have two children, Erin, 13, and Christopher, 10. Diane Bauby, 6th Yr. ’89, was hired as a principal by Portland Arts and Technology, Portland, Maine, on July 9, 2003. She was previously a principal for the state of Connecticut Vocational Technical System. Rob Garofalo, Jr., ’89, is enjoying the continued
success of his book “A Winner by Any Standard: A Personal Growth
Journey for Every American Teen.” Garofalo, a past congressional
scholarship recipient and former state Teacher of the Year winner, has
left teaching to embark on a career in youth motivational speaking. A
life manual for teens, Garofalo’s book includes 52 challenges/ chapters,
covering topics ranging from “Being a True Friend” to “Following
Your Dreams.” It has garnered numerous positive reviews, including
praise from the School Library Journal, which notes: “Teens hoping
to discover positive ways to improve and enhance their lives will appreciate

Tom Costagliola, ’91, lives in Weehawken, N.J. When he’s not teaching percussion, he’s performing with singer/songwriter Karyn Kuhl. He can be heard on Kuhl’s new album, “The Beautiful Glow” available at www.karynkuhl.com. Kathy Mazerolle, M.A. ’93, has temporarily relocated to Middletown, Conn., to work in an out-patient surgery/endoscopic unit at Middlesex Hospital. She will be moving again to Sarasota, Fla. for a temporary nursing position at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. Peter Huey, ’95, lives independently in Brewster, Mass., and loves his good friends, church involvement, and a position on the Board of Directors of the Brewster Whitecaps, a member team of the Cape Cod Baseball League. Marisa DaSilva, ’97, is an accounts executive for the Bargain News in Trumbull, Conn. She and husband, Marco, purchased their first home in Wallingford, Conn. Christer Osterling, ’98, was named director of
communications at Association Resources, Inc. in West Hartford, Conn.
The company is an international association management firm. In his new
position, Osterling is working with such organizations as the American
Epilepsy Society, the International Society for Clinical Densitometry,
and the International League Against Epilepsy. |

John Drapp III, ’00, was admitted to the Connecticut Bar and is practicing law with Slavitt, Connery and Vardamis in Norwalk, Conn. He was also admitted to the New York Bar in January 2004. John Montabana, ’02, has been director of leasing for Subway Development for two years. He resides in Tampa, Fla. Mario Pannone, ’02, was named Teacher of the Year
by students at Lyman Hall High School in Wallingford, Conn. The school’s
seniors made their selection based on several factors, including a teacher’s
positive influence and teaching methods. The yearbook was dedicated to
Pannone in recognition of the honor. This is Pannone’s second year
at Lyman Hall, where he teaches sociology, U.S. history, and Eastern Amy Simonetti, ’02, is a computer drafter and architect for Beazer Homes. She lives in Tampa, Fla. William Boyd, M.F.T. ’03, traveled to Australia
and New Zealand in May 2004 to visit relatives for a month. |
