Upcoming EVENTS for SCSU alumni
SCSU Alumni Networks are being established in Connecticut (CT wine tasting tour) and throughout the United States in areas where we have large concentrations of alumni. These networks are being designed to help alumni make connections, both socially and professionally and stay connected with Southern. We will need your help in administering them. Each network will have a chairperson and a core group of volunteers to plan events as well as set and accomplish goals of the group. If you would like to help, please contact Michelle Johnston via email or phone at 203-392-6500. See below for a list of network events currently being planned.

A conversation with Jahana hayes, '05National Teacher of the Year Friday, September 16, 2016 5:00 p.m. John Lyman Center for the Performing Arts
Southern alumna Jahana Hayes, '05, a history teacher at John F. Kennedy High School in Waterbury, Conn., was named the 2016 National Teacher of the Year.
Hayes' route to teaching began as a student. The first in her family to graduate from college, she was inspired by her teachers who urged her to dream bigger and who believed that she was college material, despite a challenging upbringing. She earned an associate degree from Naugatuck Valley Community College, a bachelor of science from Southern, a master of arts from Saint Joseph University, and a certification from the University of Bridgeport. Read more about Ms. Hayes. Click here to Register (no charge).

For the second year we would like alumni all around the United States (and abroad!) to join in the SCSU Global Big Event. If you live locally and would like to join one of the student crews in a service project, the students would love for you to join them. If you do not live locally, we ask that you choose a location for your day of volunteering in your area. Our goal is to have hundreds SCSU alumni around the world volunteer on September 17th. If you send us photos or videos, we will compile them and post them on our website.
We will be sending SCSU Global Big Event t-shirts to all participants prior to the event and ask that you wear it on the day of the Big Event. Please email (see below) by September 1st (international alumni, by August 20th), so that you will receive your t-shirt in time. Please email Michelle Johnston with your name, the organization for which you would like to volunteer, your address and your men's t-shirt size.
