Mission Statement

The mission of the Anthropology Program at Southern Connecticut State University is to heighten students' awareness of the achievements and cultures of traditional societies, particularly those in Latin America ans Africa.  The faculty is dedicated to maintaining high academic standards and enhancing students' educational experience and opportunities to interact with faculty, not only in the classroom, but in field work and laboratory research.  The goal of this "scholar-centered" approach is to provide students with a first-class education that will prepare them for graduate school or career opportunities in the many fields that now employ anthropologists and to enhance their appreciation of human diversity.
