Full Time Student Refund Policies
The following are Southern Connecticut State University's refund policies for full-time students. Once it is determined that the student is eligible for a refund, it may take two to three weeks to have a refund check printed and mailed. If you made a credit card payment OVER THE WEB, your refund will be credited back to the credit card used when making the payment.

NOTE: ALL REFUNDS IN THE FORM OF A CHECK ARE MAILED TO THE STUDENT'S PERMANENT MAILING ADDRESS ON FILE WITH THE REGISTRAR'S OFFICE.
If you wish to change your address, please complete a Change of Student Info form with the Registrar's Office.
Tuition and Fees
- Upon withdrawal from the University up to and including the first day of classes 100% of the amount paid will be refunded
- 60% will be refunded during the first two weeks of classes
- 40% will be refunded during the third and fourth weeks of classes
- No refund after the fourth week
- 100%, 60%, 40% refund assumes that applicable charges were paid in full, otherwise student may actually owe a balance to SCSU
The following fees are non-refundable:
- $200 Confirmation Deposit (Binder Fee)
- $250 Housing Deposit
- $100 Re-Registration Fee
- $50 Late Fee
- Over Registration Fee
Residence Life Fees
Student who withdraws from the University:
- 100% less the housing deposit will be refunded upon withdrawal from the University up to and including the first day of classes
- 60% will be refunded during the first two weeks of classes
- 40% will be refunded during the third and fourth weeks of classes
- No refund after the fourth week of classed will be issued
- Above refunds assume that applicable charges were paid in full, otherwise student may actually owe a balance to SCSU
Students who remain enrolled, but withdraw from the University Housing:
- No refunds will be processed after the beginning of the semester
Housing Cancellation fee
- Upon withdrawal from a residence hall three to four weeks before classes begin, a 10% housing cancellation fee based upon the housing fee after deducting the housing deposit will be assessed.
- During the first and second weeks prior to the commencement of classes, a housing cancellation fee of 20% will be assessed.
- No refunds will be made after the beginning of classes.
Meal Plan
- Refundable, on a daily prorated basis, upon withdrawal from University Housing or the University. Full weeks will be used to be prorated.
Course Cancellation Refunds
- If a course you register for is cancelled by the University, it is necessary for you to make a written request to obtain a refund. This may be accomplished by returning the request for refund form that is mailed to you with notification of course cancellation. No withdrawals or refunds can be made by telephone.
