LATE & OTHER FEES

 

CAUTION: DEBTS, FINES AND OBLIGATIONS

If you have an outstanding debt in the Business Office, an unpaid library fine, outstanding parking fines or unpaid housing fees a block will be placed against your registration. You will not be permitted to register until you clear these obligations.

 

Students outside of Engleman HallLate Payment Fee

All students who do not completely pay all tuition and fees by the due date must pay a late payment fee of $50.

 

Return Check/Credit Card Chargeback Fee

Effective April 20, 2010, when a banking institution refuses to honor a check or credit card made payable to SCSU, a charge of $20.00 will be assessed and we may cancel the service purchased. Restitution can be made by paying the $20, plus the cost of the service and any applicable fees, with cash, money order, or certified check. Failure to do so will result in referral to a collection agency.

 

Re-registration Fee

Students failing to pay their fees when due, will have their scheduled of courses dropped before the term begins. A non-refundable re-registration fee of $100.00 will be charged to those registering again for the same term.

 

Over Registration Fee

In addition to the applicable Tuition/Required Fees, full-time undergraduate students registering for more than 18 credits will be assessed Excess Credit Fees equal to the undergraduate per credit rate for every credit over 18.

Full-time graduate students registering for more than 15 credits will be assessed excess credit fees equal to the graduate per credit rate for every credit over 15. These fees are non-refundable and will NOT be removed if at a later time the total credits number less than the standard (i.e. 18 or 15) amount.

 

Lab Fees

  • Nursing lab fee (full-time) $300.00 per semester
  • Nursing lab fee (part-time) $25.00 per credit
  • Art Studio fee $60.00 per course
  • Biology fee $35.00 per course
  • Chemistry lab fee $35.00 per course
  • Earth Science lab fee $35.00 per course
  • Music lab fee $50.00 per course
  • Physics lab fee $50.00 per course
  • EMT Lab Fee $75.00 per course


Lost ID Card Fees

Your first Hoot Loot ID Card is issued at no charge. If your card is lost, you will be assessed a $10 replacement fee for the first replacement and $20 for each additional replacement. Stolen cards are replaced for free when claim is accompanied by a police report detailing the theft. For more information see the University Card Office's web site.


Parking Violation Fees

Parking violations are subject to ticketing. There is a $25.00 fine for the first offense in each year (9/1 - 8/31) and $50.00 for each additional offense in the same year.

Illegally parking in a handicap space or fire lane is a $100.00 fine for each offense.
Fines must be paid at the Bursar's Office in the Wintergreen Building within 14 days from the date of issuance. Checks must be made payable to Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU). Failure to make payment within the required time will result in a doubling of the fine.


Transcript Fees

Transcripts of work taken at SCSU may be forwarded from the Records Office to any official source FREE OF CHARGE upon written request of the student.

A $15 emergency transcript fee will be assessed for all on-demand transcript requests.


Additional Fees

Effective Fall 2003, the University has implemented the following fee that impacts the registration process of students:

  • Fitness Center (per semester) $60.00
  • Study Abroad Application Free (per semester) $75.00
  • Study Abroad Program Fee (per semester) $150.00
  • Graduate Continuous Enrollment Fee (per semester) $40.00
