Student Health Insurance
HEALTH INSURANCE: The University requires mandatory health insurance for all
full-time students unless you are covered by other medical insurance.
If you have registered for Spring 2010 and are a Full-Time student, you will
automatically be charged for the University health insurance. If you already have health insurance and wish to waive the health insurance charge on the bill, you must go on the web as follows:
- Go to the SCSU page at aetnastudenthealth.com by clicking here
- Click on the "Full Time Students" link on the left-side of the page.
- Click on the link: "Click here to waive the Student Sickness Plan"
If you have any questions concerning the health insurance, please contact Aetna Student Health toll-free at 877-375-4244 or visit their website.
The deadline for submitting a waiver for Spring 2010 health insurance is February 5, 2010. If you do not waive your Health Insurance by the waiver date, you will be responsible for payment of the charge.
Coverage is from 1/19/10 to 7/31/10, and the fee is mandatory unless a waiver is submitted on line by February 5, 2010. If you do not waive your Health Insurance, you are responsible for paying the Health Insurance charge on your bill.
Note: Please do not include $473.00 insurance fee in your payment if waiving. Also, the Health Insurance fee cannot be paid by the AMS monthly payment plan. Please subtract the amount from your total bill before making payment arrangements.
You can verify that your insurance has been successfully waived by checking your current bill online through BannerWeb. Please allow 3 to 5 business days for your waiver to be processed.
All full time international students will be billed approximately $580.50 for the health insurance plan for Springl 2010, unless they submit a waiver indicating equivalent coverage with a U.S. health care system. International students must contact Ms. Patricia Zibluk in Sponsored Programs and Research at 203.392.6801 or ziblukp1@southernct.edu if they wish to waive the insurance. They CAN NOT waive the insurance online.
