Not sure about what you can do with your major, or how to get started on your job search? The following career resources are a great place to start. Visit the Center for Career Services for additional resources including on-campus and off-campus job listings, the Career Resource Library and Career Computer Lab and to meet with a member of the professional staff.
Resume Samples- View resumes designed with Southern students in mind. Resumes from the Center's Strategies for Success career planning guide are available on-line in MS Word format. These resume formats are user friendly, just open the resume best suited to your needs and type in your information.
Career Connection- The Center for Career Services' newsletter is published each semester. Read interesting articles about programs and services offered at the Center, successful alumni, and tips to help you meet your career goals.
Resources by Major- Resources are arranged by academic school. Browse through links that are relevant to your major, and related career fields.
Video Vignettes
These short videos offer a humorous introduction to important job search topics. After watching the videos make an appointment to meet with a member of the Center's professional staff to discuss your individual job search needs. You can make an appointment by calling the Center at 203-392-6536.

Career Resources at the Center
Quick Question Hours - Students may stop by to meet with a staff member for a brief, fifteen minute consultation. Quick questions about resumes, cover letters, job search strategies, interviewing skills can be briefly answered. Quick Question hours are available at the following times:
Monday 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm (satellite locations around campus)
Tuesday 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Wednesday 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
Thursday 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm
*Note: Quick Question Hours are designed specifically to meet with a staff member; however, students may visit our office to use our computer lab and career resources library anytime during our daily office hours.
Individual Consultations- Meet with a member of the Center's professional staff for individualized assistance with your resume and cover letter, to find out more about what you can do with your major, or other career related topics.
Workshops- A full schedule of workshops on resume writing, interviewing techniques, choosing a major, preparing for a successful career fair experience and job search strategies round out the range of services offered to career and job seekers. Workshops are presented by the Center's professional staff, as well as by representatives from the employment community.
Career Resources Library- An extensive library of resources is available in the Center for Career Services. These resources include reference books, video and multi media tools on many aspects of career planning, featured articles of interest, the National Association of Colleges and Employees (NACE) salary handbook, graduate school information, a job bank, and an entrepreneurial area. This is a walk in service. Appointments are not required.
Computer Lab- A comprehensive computer lab is available to all students for resume and cover letter creation, career information, company information, and job search via the Internet. Resume samples ease the process of creating many types of resumes. Students also have access to company/organization information, as well as to thousands of jobs, both national and international. Appointments are not required.
Discover - A web based assessment tool that can help you find out in depth information about careers and majors that suit your interests and skills
Perfect Interview - An innovative multimedia software program that allows you to create a personalized interview session choosing from 1500 interview questions with available answers and recording capability, a playback option and the ability to store your interview for future critiquing and assessment
A comprehensive online tool for your career related needs consisting of: Free Downloadable Career Guides, Industry Search, Occupational Profiles, Career Advice Articles, Company Profiles, and Salary Information.
