The mission of the Master of Science degree provided by the Chemistry Department at SCSU is to provide opportunities for:

  • chemists working in the area to enhance their academic credentials, and
  • for students to take course work, to gain expertise, and to enhance credentials while applying to and/or gaining acceptance to a medical school or to a Ph.D.-granting institution


Bachelor of Science - Chemistry

The mission of the Bachelor of Science degree provided by the Chemistry Department at SCSU is to provide for a well-rounded program in chemistry. Included in this mission are the following objectives:

  • Students have the proper chemical knowledge base specified by the American Chemical Society.
  • Students demonstrate ability of analytical thought process in both theoretical and practical applications.
  • Students are aware of the impact of chemistry on society and the environment.
  • Students demonstrate a successful career in chemistry whether in post-graduate careers or industry.
  • Students are able to effectively communicate the concepts integral to the practice of chemistry.
