Southern Connecticut State University invites applications for two (2) tenure-track positions in Organic Chemistry at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2008.
The chemistry department is ACS approved, offering B.S. and M.S. degrees in chemistry. The Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry is required for both positions. One position will be in the area of Synthetic Organic Chemistry and teaching responsibilities will be in undergraduate and graduate organic chemistry. The second position will be in Organic Chemistry/Biochemistry and, in addition to organic chemistry duties, will include teaching in the pre-nursing General, Organic and Biochemistry area. This second position will help in the development of Connecticut's workforce in the pharmaceutical/medicinal chemistry areas. The development of an innovative research program with both undergraduate and graduate students is expected. Preference will be given to those candidates with experience in the daily maintenance of NMR and/or LCMS instrumentation.
