academic programs
Through a study of communication, students develop the ability to connect with an audience, shape and share a message, change minds, and maybe the course of history.
Through studying computer science, students come to grasp the necessary tools for success on the rapidly expanding frontier of computers and computer technology. From computer programming to digital design to computer ethics to the Internet, Southern's Computer Science Department prepares students for cutting-edge careers or further study at the graduate level.
Through the study of journalism, students acquire the skills, confidence, and ethical grounding they need to take on a primary function in this free society: bringing to light the events, opinions, and personalities that shape the world.
And through the study of library science and instructional technology, students learn to manipulate intellectual technologies, thereby helping to preserve and protect our cultural heritage. And more than that, they teach others how to make this heritage come alive by designing information systems in which they can seek, find, and share knowledge.
