ANNOUNCEMENTS:

World Year of Physics 2005
January 1, 2005 -- In 1905, Einstein wrote three papers (on light quanta, Brownian motion and the special theory of relativity), which would change the way we looked at physics. Given his iconic status in modern physics, the U.S. decided on 'Einstein in the 21st Century' as its theme for the World Year of Physics 2005 (WYP2005), the hundredth anniversary of those papers. Recipient of the SPS Outstanding Chapter Award 2003 – 2004

The Society of Physics Students (SPS) is a professional association explicitly designed for students.  SPS membership is comprised of over 700 collegiate chapters on campuses nationwide.  SPS is organized into 18 zones.  Particularly, Zone 1, to which SCSU belongs, is comprised of Universities from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.  Of the 14 chapters in Connecticut, and of the 59 chapters in total belonging to Zone 1, only two chapters were recipients of the Outstanding Chapter Award 2003 – 2004; only 10% of chapters nationwide are recipients of this award, usually only one chapter per state; Mount Holyoke College (MA) was the other recipient of the award for Zone 1.
