So what's IRC all about?

The Inter-Residence Council (IRC) is an inter-hall council composed of representatives from each Residence Hall which provides cultural, educational and social benefits for the entire residence hall population. IRC serves many purposes for the residents, some of which are to improve inter-hall communications, to seek and correct residence hall problems, to increase the social, educational, and cultural opportunities for residents and to provide representation to various campus committees. IRC is divided into a number of subcommittees, all of which have a specific purpose:

Residence Hall Food Committee

The committee provides a forum for resident students on the meal plan concerning Connecticut Hall meals. Designated committee members meet with the dining staff twice a month to make suggestions for the improvement of the menu, services and food preparation. Any resident student may attend these meetings and participate in the discussions, however voting on recommendations is limited to the designated members.

Programming Board

The Programming Board plans the programs for the nine Residence Halls on campus. Programs have included Hump Week, IRC Day, Tailgates, Toast @ Ten, Halll Olympics and bus trips to Six Flags and New York.

Residence Hall Government

Within each Residence Hall there are two governing bodies composed of students within that hall. These two assemblies operate for the social benefit and judicial welfare of every resident. Each resident may participate in the planning of programs and the formation of hall policies throughout the open floor and hall meetings, through their floor representatives, and by serving on committees for special events.
