Performance study of routing protocols for ad hoc networks
Research Assistant: Stanislaw Dziurzynski
Thesis Abstract
Currently there are many routing protocols for Ad Hoc networks. The objective of this research is to evaluate the performance of three most popular routing protocols using OPNET. The Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) protocol and the Ad Hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV) routing protocol are two protocols that are representative of the on-demand routing protocols. The Optimized Link State Routing (OLSR) protocol is representative of the table-driven routing protocol. A variety of environmental factors are applied to influence the performance of these protocols within the simulation scenarios. Performance of these three Routing Protocols will be compared in terms of the amount of data delivered, the number of packets used to discover and maintain routes, and the average latency in packet delivery.
