Building A Better You Programming: A Mindful Journey Spring 2013

This series is a seven step program designed to increase our life satisfaction.  Extrapolated from the book "A Seven Step Guide to Mindfulness" by Terry Fralich. The auther states "No matter what your life is like at the present moment, no matter what your circumstances, mindfulness can bring increased clarity and insight into your life.  It is like a brilliant gem hidden in our consciousness by layers of condtioning, habits and old patterns. As we begin to rediscover its shining quality, it lights up our lives and illuminates the lasting happiness we so desperatley seek."

We have interspersed supplemental programming throughout the seven steps like the Happy Movie on March 19th to enhance the learning experience for all students.  You can see the full programming list in our "All Spring 2013 Events" Section.  So please join us for these wonderful workshops.  We look forward to seeing you there!

February 5, 2012 Building A Better You Program Series Kick-Off Movie Night!!!
Movie Showing: I AM - Directed by Tom Shaydac

"I AM is an utterly engaging and entertaining non-fiction film that poses two practical and provocative questions: what's wrong with our world, and what can we do to make it better? Shadyac goes on a journey to answer these questions and discovers that, contrary to conventional thinking, cooperation and not competition, may be nature's most fundamental operating principle. Thus, I AM shows consensus decision-making is the norm amongst many species, from insects and birds to deer and primates. The film further discovers that humans actually function better and remain healthier when expressing positive emotions, such as love, care, compassion, and gratitude, versus their negative counterparts, anxiety, frustration, anger and fear." Everyone has a story.  In order to understand how our brain functions and the old patterns that undermine our happiness, we need to develop a clear overview of our personal life experiences.  Discovering connections between the past and the present will open up the door to a happier, healthier life story yet to be written...by you!

April 2, 2013 Building A Better You Programming Series: A Mindful Journey Step 5: Insight Development

The negative messages and conclusions we come to based on our life stories and old patterns have become our reality...but it doesn't have to be set in stone. It is not a true reflection of who you are or what your potential is limited to.  This program will aim to empower students to identify their life stories from a different, insightful perspective so that they can disengage from what holds them back from happiness.

April 9, 2013 Building A Better You Programming Series: A Mindful Journey Step 6: New Realities

William Ernest Henly wrote, "I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul". Your personal life story is yours to write. To command.  If you are unhappy or feeling stuck, why not invest in a new vision of yourself? Exploring old patterns gives you the wonderful opportunity to discover and nurture a brand new, healthier vision for who you want to become.

Program will be located in the Farnham Programming Space from 7-8:30pm

April 16, 2013 Building A Better You Programming Series: A Mindful Journey Step 7: A Personal Strategy

We all deserve to be happy, but happiness is something we must constantly strive for given that we are always changing.  What we want and what we need shifts with our surrounding environment and it can be easy to fall back into negative patterns simply because they are familiar.  In the final step of the "Building a Better You Programming Series: A Mindful Journey", students will develop a clear plan for practicing mindfulness so that they can continue forward on their journey through life.

Program will be located in the Farnham Programming Space from 7-8:30pm
