COMMUNITY COUNSELING PROGRAM ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS
To obtain program information/application packets, applicants should download the packet from the Web site or contact the Counseling and School Psychology Department Office at (203) 392-5910.
Candidates for the community counseling program:
- must have a minimum undergraduate quality point ratio of 2.7.
- Although no particular undergraduate major is required, students are required to have taken the following prerequisites:
- Introduction to Psychology
- Theories of Personality
- Statistics in Psychology (or equivalent)
- Abnormal Psychology
- must submit a minimum of three recommendations attesting to their professional promise and academic ability. Most of those providing recommendations also include a personal letter about the applicant.
- must submit a 500-word essay describing the basis of their interest in the counseling program and their desire to enter the profession.
- must meet with the counseling faculty members for an admissions interview.
