SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGY PROGRAM

APPLICATION INFORMATION

The following are the application materials you must submit:

1) Complete the SCSU Graduate Application and pay application fee through the Graduate School.  

2)  Send transcripts with official seal to:

3) Send your PRAXIS-I Scores or Waiver form to:

4) Created a packet of the following items:

  • A copy of your transcripts (these can be unofficial).

  • A copy of your PRAXIS-I Scores or Waiver Form.

  • Three completed recommendation forms. Written letters are welcome to accompany the recommendation form, but note that the recommendation form is required. At least one recommendation should be from someone who can speak to your intellectual and academic skills.

  • Personal essay with cover letter: Explain your reasons for wanting to enter the field of school psychology and the SCSU School Psychology program in particular. This typed/word processed essay should be approximately 250-500 words in length.

  • Send the bulleted items to the following address:

When all the above have been received, the admissions committee will screen your application materials. The admissions committee selects the strongest candidates, who are then contacted for a personal interview.  The program has become quite competitive; in the last several years, 25 out of nearly 100 applicants are chosen for personal interviews, and approximately 15 are offered admission.

Critical parts of your application materials may be lost in the mail; references may not be received; applications and/or transcripts sometimes get misdirected, etc. Please contact us if you have questions about our program or the admissions procedure.


ADMISSION DEADLINES

Master's level: All application material must be received by January 15. Students are admitted once a year.

Specialist level:  Students holding an advanced degree in psychology may apply at any time.

Students wishing to take courses as a non-matriculated student, prior to admission, may do so consistent with graduate school regulations.
