Graduate Student Affairs

SCSU provides a university-wide graduate student committee to sponsor and support educational, social, and cultural activities for the enrichment of graduate student life.  The mission of GSAC is to help students feel supported and engaged in all areas of university life, including research, professional development, and community service.  All departments have their own representatives and plan their own events and activities in order to support their department and the students within each program.  In the CSP department, we have an active GSAC group and hold events regularly.

The CSP GSAC represents the students in Counseling and School Psychology. We try to meet the needs of students in all three programs: community counseling, school counseling, and school psychology.  In order to accomplish this, we sponsor the following activities:

  • keep open communication with students about important information, such as upcoming deadlines that are critical to students (registration for classes, comprehensive exam meeting dates, filing paperwork for graduation, etc.)
  • make students aware of additional research, training, and conference opportunities in our areas
  • raise funds for important charities
  • serve as a catalyst for study and preparation groups
  • sponsor speakers and events
  • provide a social support network
  • keep students informed on media and news releases pertinent to our areas
  • plan social and celebratory events for students and faculty
  • and much, much more!

As a student in the CSP department, you are automatically a member of the CSP GSAC and receive all these benefits free of charge. Visit the GSAC's Web site.
