Orientation for Transfer Students
Transfer Student Orientation is the place where your journey begins at Southern. Participation in this one-day program is mandatory and is designed to ease your transition and give you the information you need to succeed at Southern. During Orientation you will be matched with an Orientation Ambassador and a small group of fellow transfer students. You will learn about resources for student success, make connections with other transfer students, be advised and register for classes as well as take a tour. Space in each session is limited and available on a "first come, first serve" basis. We strongly recommend that you sign up as soon as you can commit to a specific date.
We offer two types of Orientation:
1. A full-day Orientation beginning at 9:00 a.m. with programs scheduled until 4:30 p.m. Please arrive by 8:15 a.m. to check in for the day.
2. A Non-traditional Orientation reserved for students that are 26 years of age or older or students with life circumstances (family obligations, full-time employment, etc...) that prevent you from attending a full session. These will run from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on four Mondays throughout the summer and will be limited in scope.
We offer five sessions which include a Parent/Family Orientation Program. If you have a parent or family member that would like to attend a Parent and Family Orientation Program, please select a session with "Parent/Family Orientation offered" in parentheses.
