LETTER
OF AGREEMENT
Pursuant to Article 10.4 of
the Agreement of August 23, 2002, between The Connecticut State University
American Association of University Professors, Inc., and the Board of Trustees
for The Connecticut State University, the parties agree on the following load
credit allocations for CHE 100--Challenge of Chemistry in the Department
of Chemistry.
1. In any
semester when a section of CHE 100 has an enrollment of at least 200, the
teaching credits will amount to twelve (12).
The total limit will be set at 250 students per section in any semester.
2. When a
full-time faculty member teaches such a section, the faculty member will
receive twelve (12) credits.
3. When one or
more sections of CHE 100 are "team-taught" by any combination of full-time,
part-time or retiree instructors, the maximum number of credits per semester
for each instructor will conform with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The total credits granted per section will
be twelve (12).
4. The chair
and the department may assign the full-time faculty member in CHE 100 the
responsibility for recruiting part-time and retiree instructors as well as
assistants in CHE 100. When CHE 100 is
taught as a "team-taught" course, the full-time faculty member will
receive four (4) hours load credits for supervision of recruiting, maintenance
of facilities, equipment and supplies, and coordination of multiple sections
for the aggregate of all sections in that semester.
5. In any one
semester, if a full-time faculty member has less than 200 students and if in
any three previous semesters the full-time faculty member has taught a section
of CHE 100 and the enrollment was greater than 200 students, the full-time
faculty member will receive twelve (12) credits for the current semester.
6. A graduate
or university assistant will be hired for each section of CHE 100 or one
adjunct professor will be hired for both sections of CHE 100.
7. Any summer
offering of CHE 100 which follows the year-round laboratory-lecture approach
may be done as follows:
a. One section
of unlimited enrollment.
b. Eight
teaching credits awarded.
