LETTER
OF AGREEMENT
Pursuant to Article 10.4 of
the Agreement of August 23, 2002, between The Connecticut State University
American Association of University Professors, Inc., and the Board of Trustees
for The Connecticut State University, the parties agree that a Practicum in the
Department of Communication at Southern Connecticut State
University includes, but is not exclusive to, the placement of a student by the
Department within the University for the purpose of experience related to the
student's degree program. It is agreed that a student enrolled in an on-campus
Practicum cannot be employed as a University Student Worker or University
Assistant for the Department of Communication as well as for any other
department or office where the Practicum takes place.
Faculty responsibility for
students enrolled in such practicums involves:
A. appropriate placement,
B. adequate supervision and/or regularly
scheduled seminars or conferences,
and
C. evaluation of student work, including a
term paper or comparable major project.
Faculty
workload credit for supervision of students enrolled in such practicums shall
be computed by the following formula:
For
each student under the faculty member's supervision, a specific number of
"student units" shall be determined as follows:
(number
of student practicum credits) plus 3 (three) units, up to a maximum of twelve
(12) units.
The total number of student
units for all students under the faculty member's supervision shall determine
the faculty member's workload credit at the rate of thirty-six (36) student
units per one (1) load hour credit.
