LETTER OF AGREEMENT

 

Pursuant to Article 10.4 of the Agreement of August 23, 2002, between The Connecticut State University American Association of University Professors, Inc., and the Board of Trustees for The Connecticut State University, the parties agree that a Practicum in the Department of Communication at Southern Connecticut State University includes, but is not exclusive to, the placement of a student by the Department within the University for the purpose of experience related to the student's degree program. It is agreed that a student enrolled in an on-campus Practicum cannot be employed as a University Student Worker or University Assistant for the Department of Communication as well as for any other department or office where the Practicum takes place.

 

Faculty responsibility for students enrolled in such practicums involves:

 

A.        appropriate placement,

 

B.         adequate supervision and/or regularly scheduled seminars or conferences,

and

 

C.        evaluation of student work, including a term paper or comparable major project.

 

Faculty workload credit for supervision of students enrolled in such practicums shall be computed by the following formula:

 

For each student under the faculty member's supervision, a specific number of "student units" shall be determined as follows:

 

(number of student practicum credits) plus 3 (three) units, up to a maximum of twelve (12) units.

 

The total number of student units for all students under the faculty member's supervision shall determine the faculty member's workload credit at the rate of thirty-six (36) student units per one (1) load hour credit.
