Steve Larocco

SCSU-AAUP President

Steve Larocco has been active in SCSU-AAUP since 1997.  He has served as the chair of both the Academic Freedom and Grievance committees during this time.  He is especially committed to issues of academic freedom and insuring fair and non-exploitive working conditions for part-time faculty.  Steve has spoken both locally (at Yale) and at national academic conferences on union issues.  His current research involves writing a monograph on the ethical impulse.  His work explores the complex and often ambivalent relationships between ethical behavior, desire emotional life.  This research feeds into his union work.  He has been SCSU-AAUP Chapter President since 2006 and has worked hard to assure that SCSU remains a university that is committed to shared governance, fully supported excellence in teaching, and intellectual ambition for both students and faculty.
