Welcome to the Department of Anthropology. Here you will find information on our programs, courses, faculty, summer field schools, and what's new in anthropology. Enjoy your visit. Please check back as we are undergoing web revisions and updating our information and links. What is Anthropology? It is the scientific study of humanity from a comprehensive, holistic approach - the study of our physical characteristics as animals, and our unique non-biological characteristics we call culture. It covers humankind from the earliest times to the present, and includes the four subfields: physical anthropology, archaeology, socio-cultural anthropology and linguistics.Where do anthropologists work? Everywhere! We can be found in American neighborhoods and far away places, international corporations, hospitals, health agencies, museums, criminology labs, research labs, tourism, resource management, historic and prehistoric preservation, Amnesty International, the Peace Corps, the political arena, etc. As globalization increases, so does the need for anthropologists.Contact information:
