Gerald Lesley, Associate Professor of Chemistry <>
Inorganic/Organometallic/General Chemistry

I am an associate professor in the Chemistry
Department at Southern Connecticut State
University. My interests include the synthesis of novel, conducting polymers which incorporate boron atoms in the polymer main chain and the hydroboration of nitrile derivatives, metal-metal bonded molecules, and carbenes. My teaching responsibilities include General Chemistry,  and  Inorganic/Organometallic Chemistry.

Education: Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry---University of Waterloo
M.S. in Inorganic Chemistry---University of Waterloo

Honors B.S. ---University of Waterloo

Experience: Three years postdoctoral research experience at the University of Waterloo and Bristol University, Bristol, UK followed by one year lecturing at Moorhead State University in Minnesota.
Professional Interests: The synthesis and characterization of inorganic and organometallic complexes. Specific interests include the synthesis of novel, conducting, boron containing polymers, the catalytic diboration of unsaturated organic substrates and metal-metal bonded compounds. Recent studies have focused on the synthesis and reactivity of aldiminoborane complexes including reactivity studies with transition metal complexes.

Student Services: Faculty co-advisor to the Chemistry Club and Student Affiliate Chapter of the American Chemical Society.
