ABOUT SCSU Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU) is one of four universities that comprise the Connecticut State University System (CSU). CSU is governed by a 16 member board of trustees. The Chancellor of CSU is responsible for administration of the system, however, each university in the system is given a considerable measure of autonomy and each functions under the leadership of its own president. Situated on a beautiful 168 acre campus in New Haven Connecticut, SCSU has distinguished itself as a regional leader for innovative educational and cultural initiatives. Among the four universities of the CSU system, Southern Connecticut State University has emerged as the flagship for graduate studies. A fully accredited University, its graduate faculty are dedicated to the pursuit of the SCSU twofold mission: education and service. To these ends faculty are committed to the personal growth and educational development of students as individuals, by providing humane, caring and supportive learning environments, and vigorous training.
Future Plans: Southern is in the midst of the largest construction program in its 107 year history. Started in 1998, phase 1 of 3 phases in this construction project will be completed in 2003 and will include: a new student center; a new facilities operation building (completed); a new parking garage (completed); a new boiler plant; new baseball/softball fields; renovations to Engleman Hall, Buley Library, and Jennings Hall (underway). Southern's plans for the second and third five year phases of its construction program have been determined and include new and renovated buildings across the entire campus. |
The graduate academic programs of the Department of Communication Disorders are accredited by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association's (ASHA) Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA). Clinical services offered by the departmental Center for Communication Disorders, hold ASHA Professional Services Accreditation.
