GRADUATE STUDENT COMMENCEMENT

(Our Inaugural 2000 Graduate Commencement is Pictured)

Each May, Southern Connecticut State University offers two graduation commencement ceremonies, one for undergraduate education and one for graduate education. The graduate commencement is presented in the Lyman Center for Performing Arts and is a spectacle of pageantry and  splendor.

Within a surround of Corinthian columns,  banners and the University Seal, departmental advisors and the Graduate School Dean place the master's hood or the sixth year stole on deserving graduates in recognition of their academic accomplishments. Friends and family look on from the spacious Lyman Center Auditorium as each student is hooded, photographed and acknowledged  by the University President.

The Department of Communication Disorders and NSSLHA commemorate graduate and undergraduate students' completion of their degrees with a reception and dinner party prior to the formal graduation. Each student is individually recognized and congratulated for a job well done.

The graduate academic programs of the Department of Communication Disorders are accredited by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association's (ASHA) Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA). Clinical services offered by the departmental Center for Communication Disorders, hold ASHA Professional Services Accreditation.
