Admission
Requirements
Students entering SCSU as freshmen
will become involved in the clinical and academic aspects
of the program during their very first semester.
However, students will formally apply for admission into
the Exercise Science Department and the Athletic Training
Education Program at the end of the freshman year (2nd
week of May).
It is important to remember that students wishing to apply
for admission into the Exercise Science Department/Athletic
Training Education Program must:
Have
completed or be enrolled in the following prerequisite course
work:
Be an officially matriculated student at SCSU
Have
accrued a 2.5 overall Quality Point Ratio (QPR)
Read and understand the Technical Standards form
Complete an interview with ATEP Faculty
Accrued
100+ hours of observation in the athletic training room.
Received
a C- or better in all major course work
Submit
3 letters of recommendation and an up-to-date transcript
Successfully
complete oral/practical and written examinations
Submission
of a portfolio
An applicant's admission into the Athletic Training Education
Program will be deferred or denied if one or more of the
requirements for admission are not met. If admission is
deferred, the applicant will be set aside until the following
Spring.
