SCHOOL HEALTH PROGRAM
INFORMATION FOR SCSU |
FULL TIME FACULTY
There are five full time faculty members, three with either a Ph.D. or an Ed.D., one with two Master of Science degrees and a 6th year diploma, and one who has a Master of Science degree. The full time faculty members divide the academic teaching in the graduate courses, undergraduate courses, and the service course, SHE 203, which is a requirement of all education students in the School of Education. In addition, several faculty members are engaged in administrative responsibilities, department and university committees, and conducting research.
The current full time faculty members are meeting most of the needs of the program, however, to reduce the number of adjunct faculty members teaching the service level courses, at least two new faculty members are needed. Full time faculty members can provide both continuity and consistency in meeting the standards established by our professional organization. PART TIME FACULTY The School Health Education Program has seven adjunct faculty members who regularly teach in the department.
Most of the adjunct faculty members have either taught in public schools, are currently teaching in public schools, or serve as a school nurse. Their practical experience in teaching in public schools and serving as training supervisors in the BEST program provide our students with learning experiences that are valuable for future teachers. |
