LIBRARY RESOURCES FOR GRADUATE STUDY

The Department of Exercise Science has a faculty liaison, Dr. Robert Axtell, with the Acquisitions Department at Buley Library. Each faculty member orders books, videotapes, curriculum materials, and health education modules on a regular basis. The department liaison accepts and processes requests from the faculty, both full and part time members. The liaison processes the requests through the library for acquisition. Graduate student requests and suggestions are regularly solicited and materials are purchased to be added to the library.

Graduate students in the past have rated the library holding as antiquated and not useful, however, our current students are generally pleased in finding more current journals and texts available. Currently the library is equipped with adequate journals and books that can be utilized by students in our program.

There are 240 health related journals in the library. The School Health Education Program shares interest in, and therefore use of, professional journals used by nursing, public health, and several other education related disciplines. A listing of some journals unique to School Health Education is given below. These are the journals currently in Southern Connecticut State University’s library.
