Probation or Dismissal Conditions

Graduate School:

Academic probation will take place for failure to maintain a 3.0 GPA after completion of 9 credits in the program (graduate school policy). The graduate school will place students in this category on probation. This policy within the school health education program applies only to students with a GPA between 2.70 and 2.99 since any GPA below 2.70 is grounds for dismissal from the program.
Program:

Students are placed on academic probation by the program if their GPA falls below 3.00 at any time. Academic dismissal by the program results for students whose GPA falls below 2.70 at any time.
Students failing to meet academic standards will be reviewed by the departmental graduate committee where academic decisions are made.

Professional Probation
The following constitute grounds for probation:
A faculty member is concerned about a student’s conduct, skills, attitudes, or lack of understanding.
Unethical conduct such as:
Behaviors prohibited by the American Association of Health Education ethical guidelines.
Any violation of dishonesty including, but not limited to plagiarism.
Lack of professionalism – failure to demonstrate professional deportment.
If conditions are not met to remove the professional probation by the end of the course or semester, program dismissal or course failure may result.
Procedures / Notification
The graduate school notifies students of probation, suspension, or dismissal status from the School of Graduate Studies.
The graduate program coordinator will notify students of program probation or dismissal, either academic or professional.
Copies of the letter of notification of academic status are placed in the student’s file.
Students may request, or be requested, to meet with the graduate program committee. The student may submit written evidence relevant to the committee’s decision.
