CLINICAL PRACTICE CONCENTRATION
The first year of the program prepares students for generalist social
work practice. Social work ethics, values, foundation knowledge,
professional roles, skills and tasks are emphasized. The second
year will prepare students for advanced clinical practice. Client
growth, development, rehabilitation and coping will be addressed.

SOCIAL
SERVICE MANAGEMENT CONCENTRATION
The first year of this program prepares students for generalist
social work practice. Students have the same core requirements as
clinical practice students. Social work ethics, values, foundation
knowledge, professional roles, skills and tasks are emphasized.
The second year prepares students for managerial practice in social
work. Expertise is developed in policy analysis, program design
and development, supervision and personnel management, program evaluation,
fiscal management, and management information systems.
In addition to the generalist program requirements, the following
are required in the second year of the program:

JOINT
DEGREE PROGRAM IN SOCIAL WORK AND URBAN STUDIES
The joint degree program offers students a unique opportunity to
develop competencies in the fields of urban studies and social work,
leading to the Master of Science degree in Urban Studies and the
Master of Social Work degree. Students are able to study concurrently
in each program and to earn two degrees upon satisfactory completion
of the requirements for both degrees.
Students who apply for a joint degree must meet the admission and
graduation requirements of each program. Students are also required
to be matriculated concurrently in each program. The Master of Social
Work degree and the Master of Science degree in Urban Studies are
awarded when all requirements for each program are met.
