Jack Kent Cooke Foundation
The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation's 2006 Graduate Scholarship Program is based on nominations of students by their undergraduate institutions. In order to have sufficient time to review and process applications, Southern has set an March 30, 2006 deadline for receiving application packets from Southern students who will complete their degree before Fall 2006 (and since May 1999). Eligible applicants will have a 3.5 or better GPA, and be entering graduate school, for the first time, in fall 2006. The Fulbright program offers funding to US citizens and citizens of 140 foreign countries. Grants are made to citizens of participating countries, primarily for: university teaching, advanced research, graduate study, and teaching in elementary and secondary schools.

Ford Foundation Fellowship for Minorities Approximately 60 predoctoral, 35 dissertation, and 24 postdoctoral fellowship sponsored by the Ford Foundation and administered by the National Research Council of the National Academies.

Eligibility Requirements: U.S. citizen or national Native American Indian, Mexican American/Chicana/Chicano, Alaska Native (Eskimo or Aleut), Native Pacific Islander(Polynesian or Miconesian), Black/African American, or Puerto Rican Planning a career in teaching and research at the college level or university level.

Stipends, Allowances and Deadline:

PREDOCTORAL - $16,000 to the fellow, institutional allowance $7,500 for three years. DISSERTATION - $21,000 for one year. POSTDOCTORAL - $34,000 for one year, $3,000 travel and reallocation allowance, $2,000 cost-of-research allowance, $2,500 employing institution allowance, to be matched by employing institution.

The Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans supports thirty awards per year for up to three years of graduate study in any subject anywhere in the United States. The fellowship provides a maintenance allowance of $20,000 plus half of the tuition of the university the applicant attends or will attend for graduate study.
