Grants are made to citizens of participating countries, primarily for: university teaching, advanced research, graduate study, and teaching in elementary and secondary schools. (Last checked 9/30/05) Ford Foundation Fellowship for Minorities Approximately 60 predoctoral, 35 dissertation, and 24 postdoctoral fellowship sponsored by the Ford Foundation and administered by the National Research Council of the National Academies. Eligibility Requirements: U.S. citizen or national Native American Indian, Mexican American/Chicana/Chicano, Alaska Native (Eskimo or Aleut), Native Pacific Islander(Polynesian or Miconesian), Black/African American, or Puerto Rican Planning a career in teaching and research at the college level or university level. Stipends, Allowances and Deadline: PREDOCTORAL - $16,000 to the fellow, institutional allowance $7,500 for three years. DISSERTATION - $21,000 for one year. POSTDOCTORAL - $34,000 for one year, $3,000 travel and reallocation allowance, $2,000 cost-of-research allowance, $2,500 employing institution allowance, to be matched by employing institution. The fellowship provides a maintenance allowance of $20,000 plus half of the tuition of the university the applicant attends or will attend for graduate study.
