Adjustable Inclined Plane

PHY 100 & 103

This experiment illustrates the relationship between time, velocity, and acceleration. Students will calculate the average velocity of an object, the instantaneous velocity of the object at distance d, and the acceleration of the object.

Equipment

Name Location Quantity
Rods, Metal JE-105A-D89,99,100 1 per table
Inclined Planes (Wide) JE105A S132 1 per table
Timer - 389 JE-105A-D62 1 per table
Balls, Metal - 2" JE-105A-S22 1 per table
Meter Stick - 2.00m JE-105A-(105 Door-L) 1 per table
Meter Stick - 1.00m JE-105A-(105 Door), D98 1 per table
Clamp, Lattice Rod JE-105A-D64 1 per table

Notes

The metal rods used have to fit through the holes of the inclined planes. These rods are found in D89. Each lab bench already has a lattice rod clamp attached to the lab bench rod.

Make sure that the room has plenty of paper and that each table has a ruler and a meter stick.
