ALCOHOL POLICY NOTICE 2008 – 2009

 

 

 

RESIDENCE LIFE POLICY REGARDING ALCOHOL:

 

 

Residence Hall Students (21 years of age or older) are only permitted to register one of the following qualities of alcohol within a 24 hour period:

 

   six 12 oz cans/bottles of beer,

   8 oz of liquor,

   or 28 oz bottle of wine.

 

Kegs, beer balls, party balls, and mini kegs are not permitted.

 

All bottles and cans must be recycled. Empty alcohol containers may not remain in the room for decorative purposes.

 

Only students assigned to the residence hall, suite, or apartment and 21 years of age or older may register alcohol in their residence hall room, suite, or apartment only. All alcohol must be registered at the front desk upon entry. Photo ID demonstrating age must be presented.

 

At all times, the student, other residents, and their guests behavior must not be disruptive to the community.

 

Students in violation of the alcohol policy are subject to University judicial action.

 

All students are expected to conduct themselves responsibly regarding alcohol use. Residence Life staff reserves the right to request a medial evaluation for intoxicated students. Students receiving a medical evaluation related to alcohol use will be referred to the University judicial system. Upon return to campus, students have until the end of the next business day to make an appointment to with the Drug & Alcohol Resource Center and Judicial Affairs Office. Failure to do so will result in loss of Housing. Emergency notification is made for all medical transports.

 

State of Connecticut Law (Public Act 06-112) strictly prohibits the serving of any minors which includes within the Residence Halls.

GUEST POLICY NOTICE 2008 – 2009

 

 

RESIDENCE LIFE POLICY REGARDING GUESTS:

 

All residence hall, suite, and apartment students are required to show an SCSU ID upon entry into each residence life building.

 

ALL GUESTS MUST BE REGISTRED AND SHOW VALID PHOTO ID. This includes, but is not limited to, parents, faculty, staff, SCSU students not assigned to live in the building, and guests. At all times guests must show upon request their guest pass and be in the presence of their host. Valid ID for registration includes only the following:

   SCSU student, staff, or faculty, ID card.

 

University staff & faculty on official business may register into the building as a guest of the office but must have their ID available at all times. ALL University staff & faculty must register with the front desk.

 

Please note the following:

 

   Sunday – Thursday - Guests may be in the building between 8:30 AM – 2:00 AM and must be with the consent of all other students assigned to  the room, suite, or apartment.

 

   Friday – Saturday – Guests may be in the building between 8:30 AM – 3:00 AM and must be with the consent of all other students assigned to the room, suite, or apartment.

 

   Guests may only enter and exit through the main lobby and must register upon entry and upon exit from the building.

 

   Guests waiting for their host may not leave the front lobby prior to being registered. Guests may not loiter in the main lobby for extended periods of time.

 

   Only a student assigned to the building may register a maximum of 2 guests at a time. Additional guests (limited to family members only) may be approved only at the discretion of the Hall Director and must be requested 24 hours in advance.

 

   Residence Life staff reserves the right to request guests to leave the premises at any time. Guests who are disruptive to the community will be restricted from future access to the building or all residence halls, suites, and apartments.

 

   Guest with vehicles must register them with University Policy ONLY.

 

OVERNIGHT GUESTS

A maximum of 1 overnight guest per student is permitted per night. Overnight guests may stay a maximum of 2 nights per week (Sunday through Saturday) and MUST have the consent of all other students assigned to the room.

   Guests between the ages of 16-17 may not requester as an overnight guest without a signed Parental Consent Form approved 24-hours in advance.  A parental consent form is available at www.southernct.edu/residencelife/.

 

   All guests under the age of 18 must have a signed Parental Consent Form and approval from the Hall Director to register as an overnight guest 24-hours in advance.
