RESEARCH
My
research encompasses classroom and field-based applied science and environmental education studies
examining srategies for infusing appropriate technologies in community-based educatinal programs. Since arriving at SCSU, I have been
busy developing innovative course experiences and in securing funding and equipment to create hand-on sicnece and environmental field studies opportunties for teachers. I have
been successful in obtaining NASA NOVA Progam as well as SCSU funding to support these
activities. I have also been successful in recruiting graduate
students to collaborate on environmental education curricula for Long Island Sound and Coastal Connecticut. Links are provided
here to view and access copies of my publications, current grants
and recent activities.

Environmental Systems and GLOBE Investigations
The GLOBE Program is an international environmental science education program funded by a consortium of NASA, NOAA and other federal agencies. It is an true international collaboration of research scientists and K12 teachers and students, all collecting fundamentally important data on earth processes (Atmosphere, Hydrosphere, Biosphere and Geosphere), and sharing and reporting data, maps, charts, and reports online. Ths online global environmental database is accessible ot all reasearchers worldwide. Environmental Systems Inquiry (ESI) is an adaptation of a NASA NOVA program for earth and environmental scieence education. I was fortunate to be involved in extensive revisions of this primarily on-line education program prior to my coming to SCSU. Since then I have rekindled my connections to NASA NOVA and have adapted the ESI course experience and combined it with GLOBE Program field strategies.
