This office is responsible for diversity and equity compliance initiatives and programs at Southern Connecticut State University. We provide support and advice to all university offices on recruitment and retention issues, sexual harassment prevention training, diversity, discrimination and harassment, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and Title IX.

Definition
The term "diversity" is recognized as a core value in the university's strategic plan. The university community also adopted a definition for diversity.
The university values an educational and work environment in which individuals and cultures are celebrated and respected for the unique talents, insights, and perspectives that they contribute.

Diversity Goals
In order to meet the commitment to diversity, several long-term goals were drafted in the University Strategic Plan:
- Actively recruit, retain and support a diverse faculty, staff and student population.
- 2. Conduct a study of the institution's progress toward achieving diversity and equity in all aspects of the university community.
- Increase resources for new and existing programs and activities to promote diversity in its various forms.
- Expand the activities of the Multicultural Center to enhance the cross-cultural competence of all members of the campus community.
