A foreign language substitution may be granted to students that have documentation of a disability that clearly shows the need for such a substitution. Students who qualify for the substitution are required to take one or two substitute courses from an approved list given out by the DRC. Students who are working towards a BS will need one course and students who are working towards a BA will need two courses. The substitute courses cannot fulfill any other university requirement or major requirement. In other words, the same course cannot count towards two requirements.
If you think you may qualify for a foreign language substitution you should schedule an appointment with the DRC. If you have never been to the DRC, you will need to schedule an intake appointment and submit documentation of your disability to the DRC. You will also need to fill out the Application for a Foreign Language Substitution, which can be downloaded by clicking on Forms for Students.
