Welcome to the Department of Economics and Finance

ChairThe science of economics provides a useful framework for understanding many of the issues confronting the individual, the world of business and society at large. You may already know that economics offers the theoretical foundation for most of the other functional areas of business. On its own, the degree in economics gives you the rigorous and analytical training, which you need to succeed in today's job market. Sooner or later you will be in charge and your responsibilities will include making decisions on the allocation of scarce resources. This is where your economics kicks in. If you are looking for a major or a course to take, let me encourage you to think about economics or finance.

In addition to the B.S. in Economics and in Finance, the department is also home to the liberal arts degree, the B.A. (Economics) program. Unlike the first two, the B.A. (Economics) requires only 30 credits in economics. You may therefore combine economics with any number of majors such as mathematics, political science or sociology. If you desire more information, please feel free to contact me or any one of our faculty members.
