Program Oversight
Southern's Ed.D. program is governed by the faculty of the Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies in collaboration with the dean of the School of Education, the dean of the School of Graduate Studies, the vice president for academic affairs, and the president. Two voluntary advisory committees provide input on the program's direction. The External Advisory Committee consists of superintendents, principals, and government officials. The Faculty Advisory Committee consists of dedicated Southern faculty outside of the Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies.
The Ed.D. program is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), and is fully licensed and accredited by the State of Connecticut Department of Higher Education.
The doctoral program is guided by policies that are issued at the beginning of each academic year. The 2007-2008 doctoral policies can be found here.
