SIXTH YEAR PROFESSIONAL DIPLOMA in Educational Foundations
The sixth year program in educational foundations is designed for professionals in education who wish to develop their expertise by broadening their understanding of social, cultural, political, historical, and philosophical influences on student learning.
Completion of this 30-credit program requires 21 credits of specified educational
foundations and leadership courses and 9 credits in graduate-level electives. At least 3 credits of electives must be in foundational areas. All program choices are included in a planned program and must be approved by the program coordinator. The course of study permits a degree of flexibility to allow students to pursue areas of interest both within required courses and by choosing electives. This interdisciplinary approach sharpens skills in foundational areas that, in turn, open a wider spectrum of professional and personal interests.
In addition to being offered at Southern's campus in New Haven, a number of required courses are offered online.
