A student interested in an education program should also become familar with the School of Education's mission, principles, and requirements. Click here to access the School of Education homepage.

There are four degree programs in elementary education leading to the Connecticut Initial Educators Certificate:

Students who wish to become certified in one of these four areas must also choose a second major in an academic area outside of the School of Education. This means that such students will have two majors, and will graduate with a degree in both areas of study. Many Education majors choose a second major in psychology, or in a secondary subject such as literature, science, mathematics, history, or art.

Students seeking a degree in any subject in secondary education, such as history, science, mathematics, art, foreign languages, or English, must contact the department of that subject. Students interested in secondary education programs click here.
